This is an open discussion forum for users to discuss WebRing features, wishes, thoughts, etc. QUESTIONS about and PROBLEMS with the System should be posted in detail using the support forums in Help. Negative, derogatory or personal comments will be deleted. Sadly, due to spamming and anonymous trashing of other users we have had to restrict posting to signed in members.

System Status and Problem Reports - 12/04/2003
Several people are posting problems here. I'm pleased that they are. It helps to track.

I'm hardly the official defender of, but understand that they are moving their servers. The system is going to be flakey till that move is complete.

From time to time, until it is done, you won't be able to log in, you won't be able to mess with your webrings, you won't be able to upload, download or crossload. Right now, you can't even post a problem to the official help forum.

Until the move is complete, these problems and more will continue to come and go.

For myself, I would encourage you to continue to post details of the problems you encounter. It will help everyone to know the ongoing status.

So, I guess what I'm saying is, keep the reports coming. But don't let the problems frustrate or annoy you. They are just part of the process over which you and I have no control.

You may be pleased, but the problem we may encounter is that everyone will think this is the place to post PROBLEMS. It's not. I ONLY addressed something here because the proper forum for problems is part of the problem (and, managers may have noticed that the manager forum is also inaccessible right now.)
I don't encourage posting of problems here. Support is still accessible (although their backlog right now is UNBELIEVABLE). So timely responses are not possible. To keep up with the system issues just wait for "ringhelp" to be accessible again. Only Tim can kickstart a machine, and I'm trying every means I have to reach him. When it happens, "ringhelp" will be online again and I'll get back in there and post updates. I won't be making any further replies to problems in here because I don't want to encourage this Forum to be used for anything but chit chat. ;)

Yes. Andrea is correct. This is not the place to post problems in order to let know of them. This is NOT an official problem board. However useful it is to other members, there are better, sanctioned and official channels to advise management.

While I share Andrea's valid and realistic concern, I am pleased because it IS effective as a way to let other members know of them.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no other forum in which members can directly alert other members of problems which they experience.

The official technical forum is a fantastic place which Andrea devotes countless, selfless hours to. She is generally under-appreciated. It provides a valuable communication for the system. Everyone should thank her for her valuable contribution.

And the official technical forum provides the official information on the current status.

Neither Andrea nor the system encourages public reporting of issues, problems or anomalies.

While I strongly encourage official posting of problems in Andrea's official forum, I suppose I disagree slightly about the public reporting of problems here. I continue to appreciate any and all news of possible issues, even before they have been officially vetted, digested and analyzed.
